Ultra-Conservative Former Lawmaker José Antonio Kast Elected as Chile New Head of State.
Following a conclusive runoff election, hardline candidate José Antonio Kast has clinched the top job in Chile.
A Clear-Cut Win
After more than 99% of ballots counted, Kast won 58.17% of the ballots, overcoming leftist former minister Jeannette Jara, who received 41.83%.
This marks Kast's third presidency, having previously been defeated by the current president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 runoff.
