Triple NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" knee injury when the Nuggets fell 147-123 at the Miami Heat.

The Serbian center injured himself late in the first half in an unintentional collision with teammate Jones.

His teammate came down on the footwear of the big man, and he immediately fell to the court grabbing his leg.

The star, who leads the NBA season in rebounds and dimes, posted a score of 21 points and eight assists in the game prior to incurring the injury.

He will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the problem.

"Immediately, he knew he was hurt," commented Nuggets head coach David Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Any player that suffers an injury, that's gut-wrenching, especially somebody as talented as him. More information will come on Tuesday."

"The team will adjust together. Clearly, currently, I am focused about Jokic as a person and the letdown of facing something like that."
