A significant manufacturing complex located in the suburbs of the capital is dealing with nuclear contamination following an official team found traces of the hazardous element Caesium-137 at 22 manufacturing facilities within the area, that encompasses companies shipping chilled seafood.

The environment minister stated that residents living in strongly contaminated areas would be moved until the site was decontaminated, adding that the well-being of the residents was the “main concern”.

Medical officials also performed examinations on nearby employees and residents living close to the manufacturing estate, identifying 9 people who showed signs for exposure to Caesium-137. They were referred to a hospital before being cleared to return home.
