Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry instalment that players experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for celebrating chaos and insanity with equal glee, all while weaving captivating, politically driven tales. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose work have exemplified all of those elements.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by featuring a fresh setting and ensemble in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their constant trust and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the core of people through this complex and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our shared unconventional, ambitious style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
